We invite you to join us as we share new prayers each week for the vulnerable among us facing challenges, fears, and threats. We will name many of the harms unfolding around us and acknowledge what is being erased, lost, and threatened. 

Please join us in prayer and share these prayers with your dioceses and parishes. 

We are one church united in prayer, naming reality in the face of lies, creating space for grief in the face of denial, and freeing space in our souls for hope. We gather to be the body of Christ for one another—bearing one another’s burdens—and pointing the world to the cross and its redemptive power already at work through our witness (even when it may not feel like it).   

These prayers are not a replacement for action; they offer grounding and space to discern what actions each of us feel compelled to take. We may feel called to meet with or contact our elected officials, participate in community organizing, provide services to those in our communities, or join in protests or acts of civil disobedience.

Prayers for the week of June 6

For Episcopalians from Areas of Conflict 

God of justice and consolation, we lift up Episcopalians who carry the grief of their homelands: Palestinians, Armenians, South Sudanese, Haitians, Venezuelans, and all who feel unheard, unseen, or unsupported. Kindle in us deeper solidarity, so that your church may be a true home for every member of the Body of Christ. Strengthen them in their sorrow, honor their witness, and remind us that no one is forgotten in your kingdom. May Jesus, who stood with the forgotten, console them and bind us together in your love. Amen. 

For Oak Flat and the Apache People 

God of sacred places, you met Moses in a burning bush, Elijah in a cave, and Jesus on a mountain. You are present where your people pray, and Oak Flat is holy ground to many. We grieve with the San Carols Apache as their sacred site faces destruction. Turn our hearts from valuing profit over sanctity and open our eyes to the holiness embedded in creation. Strengthen those who defend Chil’chil Biłdagoteel; uphold them with courage and hope. Remind us always that where you are encountered, the ground is holy. Through Christ our Lord, who reveals your glory in every place and people. Amen. 

A Prayer of Thanksgiving for Witnesses to Love and Justice 

Loving God, you created each of us in your image and wrap us all in your embrace. We give you thanks for those who stood and continue to stand for LGBTQ+ rights. Remind the world that the LGBTQ+ community and their allies bear witness to the wide expanse of Christ’s love. Protect everyone, especially the vulnerable, from hatred, exclusion, and violence. Through Christ our Lord, who loved without limit and calls us to do the same. Amen. 

For Our Jewish Siblings  

God of mercy and justice, Jesus wept at the tomb of Lazarus. You know our grief, our fear, and our longing for healing. We grieve with the victims of violence, including those recently attacked in Boulder, Colorado. We lament the fear that these attacks and other attacks and threats strike into the hearts of our Jewish siblings. You are a God whose compassion runs deeper than we can imagine. Give your comfort in the face of pain and give your strength in the face of fear. Extend your care, O God, and remind us of your vision for the world, a vision of peace and righteousness built on your everlasting love. Amen. 

For Victims of the Attack at Al-Ahli Hospital 

O God, you see the blood and cries coming from the ground at Al-Ahli Hospital. We bring before you our grief too deep for words, and anger too heavy to bear. You see the father dying next to his injured son, you see the journalists who can no longer speak, the healers struck while tending to the broken, and all who were injured. Lord, hear the desolation of your people, comfort the mourning, shield the innocent. Through Jesus Christ, who died unjustly. Amen. 

Oraciones semanales por la política pública y el testimonio

Los invitamos a que se nos unan para compartir nuevas oraciones cada semana por aquellos que son vulnerables entre nosotros quienes enfrentan desafíos, temores y amenazas. Declararemos muchos de los perjuicios que se están fomentando a nuestro alrededor y reconoceremos lo que está siendo anulado, perdido y amenazado. 

Únase a nosotros en oración y comparta estas oraciones con sus diócesis y parroquias. 

Somos una iglesia unida en oración, proclamando la realidad frente a las mentiras, creando espacio para el dolor frente a la negación, y liberando espacio en nuestras almas para la esperanza. Nos reunimos para ser el cuerpo de Cristo ante los demás, llevando las cargas de los demás, y señalando la cruz al mundo y su poder redentor que ya está obrando a través de nuestro testimonio (incluso cuando puede que no se sienta así).   

Estas oraciones no son un reemplazo de la acción; ofrecen la base y el espacio para discernir qué acciones cada uno de nosotros se siente obligado a tomar. Podemos sentirnos llamados a congregarnos o contactar a nuestros funcionarios electos, participar en la organización comunitaria, proveer servicios a los miembros de nuestras comunidades, o unirnos a protestas o actos de desobediencia civil.

Oraciones para la semana del 6 de junio

Para los episcopales de las zonas de conflicto 

Dios de justicia y consuelo, elevamos a los episcopales que llevan sobre sus hombros el dolor de sus tierras natales: Palestinos, armenios, sudaneses del sur, haitianos, venezolanos y todos los que se sienten ignorados, invisibles o sin apoyo. Enciende en nosotros una solidaridad más profunda, para que Tu iglesia sea un verdadero hogar para cada miembro del Cuerpo de Cristo. Fortalécelos en su dolor, honra su testimonio y recuérdanos que nadie es olvidado en Tu reino. Que Jesús, quien estuvo al lado a los olvidados, los consuela y nos enlaza en Tu amor. Amén. 

Para Oak Flat y el pueblo Apache 

Dios de los lugares sagrados, te encontraste con Moisés en una zarza ardiente, con Elías en una cueva, y con Jesús en una montaña. Estás presente donde Tu pueblo reza, y Oak Flat es tierra santa para muchos. Nos lamentamos junto a los Apache de San Carols ya que su sitio sagrado enfrenta la destrucción. Guía nuestros corazones para que dejemos de valorar el lucro sobre la santidad y abre nuestros ojos ante la sacralidad incorporada en la creación. Fortalece a quienes defienden a Chil’chil Biłdagoteel; sostenlos con valentía y esperanza. Recuérdanos siempre que donde te encuentres, la tierra es santa. Por Cristo nuestro Señor, que revela Tu gloria en todo lugar y en todo pueblo. Amén. 

Una Oración de Acción de Gracias para los Testigos del Amor y la Justicia 

Dios del Amor, Tú creaste a cada uno de nosotros a tu imagen y nos envuelves a todos en Tu abrazo. Te damos las gracias por aquellos que se pusieron de pie y continúan defendiendo los derechos LGBTQ+. Recuérdale al mundo que la comunidad LGBTQ+ y sus aliados dan testimonio de la amplia extensión del amor de Cristo. Protege a todos, especialmente a los vulnerables, del odio, la exclusión y la violencia. Por Cristo nuestro Señor, que amó sin límites y nos llama a hacer lo mismo. Amén. 

Para nuestros hermanos judíos  

Dios de misericordia y justicia, Jesús lloró en la tumba de Lázaro. Conoces nuestro dolor, nuestro miedo, y nuestro anhelo de sanación. Nos afligimos por las víctimas de la violencia, incluidas las recientemente atacadas en Boulder. Lamentamos el temor de que estos ataques y otros ataques y amenazas golpeen los corazones de nuestros hermanos judíos. Eres un Dios cuya compasión es más profunda de lo que podemos imaginar. Brinda Tu consuelo frente al dolor y ofrece Tu fortaleza frente al miedo. Te presentamos este dolor nuestro que es demasiado profundo para expresarse con palabras, y una ira que es demasiado pesada para soportar. Ves al padre muriendo junto a su hijo herido, ves a los periodistas que ya no pueden hacer escuchar sus voces, a los sanadores golpeados mientras cuidan a los maltratados, y a todos los que resultaron heridos. Señor, escucha la desolación de tu pueblo, consuela el luto, escuda a los inocentes. A través de Jesucristo, quien murió injustamente. Amén.
